Day at Sea

Sunday, 25 March

Our last day at sea we relaxed some and also did the majority of the packing in preparation for leaving the ship in Istanbul. During the day we wandered the ship, played in the second blackjack tournament (this time neither of us placed in the money), and enjoyed our last formal dinner and dance.

In the evening, before dinner, we passed through the Dardanelles and passed by Gallipoli. The cruise director and historian took this one time in our cruise to actually broadcast key points of the Battle of Gallipoli and the history of the area as we passed through the straits. The following link has very interesting information on the Turkish memorials and links to other sites "Visiting Gallipoli Today" Although it was a bit hazy in the evening we were able to take a few pictures of the primary memorials visible from the ship.

After a lovely dinner and dancing we headed back to our cabin, dreaming of our arrival in Istanbul the next day.

Postings before the Trip:

Sunday, 25 March 2012, is the second of two sea days on our cruise, but also our last day at sea. We will arrive in Istanbul, Turkey the next morning but will remain on board overnight with disembarkation on Tuesday as originally scheduled.

We will still probably organize our packing for disembarkation since this is a sea day. That way we can really enjoy the extra day in Istanbul. When the packing is in good order, we will enjoy our last day on the water!

"Second in the Silversea fleet, Silver Wind is much like Silver Cloud and a shining example of intimate, elegant cruising.
